West Down bell ringers entered the Devon Association of Ringers Three Tower competition on the 24th July. They came fifth (out of 12) overall. they were third at Atherington & fourth at Ashreigney. |

St.Calixtus, West Down, is now linked with Heanton & Marwood as the Villages Mission Community. On Friday 3rd September at 7.30 in Marwood Church Bishop Bob (Bishop of Credition) will join with the churches in a service of celebration followed by refreshments. |

Parish Council At the annual meeting & the first meeting of the new council (see minutes) the Chairman expressed concern for the future of the Parish Council as elections are due next year and said that he felt that our Parishioners should be advised well before the event of the need to ensure an adequate number of future Councillors in order to preserve the wellbeing of our Parish.

Work on the car park has started After all the delays and the extra costs - see Parish Council minutes May 2009- it is really going to happen at last. Rumour has it that is was first mooted in the 1980s!!!! |

Pipcott Tea Rooms re-open on 1st April and will remain open for the summer.

The popular Quiz evening returned to the Parish Hall on Saturday 30th January. The question masters were Jan Volley & Pat Williams. The winners were 1st Wellyfish 70 points The winning team members were Stephen Lovell, Pauline Hart, Derek Pink, David & Ann Wellings and John Spencer. Best team name was 'In It To Win It' but they didn't - not even the wooden spoons. Last night was the first time ever we had to do a tie break for bottom place for the famous wooden spoons. It was between "In It To Win It" and 'Let's Milk It! (For What It's Worth)" and the latter team lost.
The evening made £411.50 profit

On Thursday 30th April 2009 Rt. Revd. Michael Langrish, Bishop of Exeter came to West Down. He lunched in the Crown Inn with representatives of the farming community and then visited Pipcott Tea Rooms. |
The application for a wind farm at Fullabrook Down received planning permission.
The Women's Institute celebrated 60 years.
We had Snow !!!!!!
